Love the book! I’ve been wanting to get back in shape for a while, and though calisthenic would be a good way to get back into shape without over exerting myself. I was recommended this book from a friend. I love how it explains the exercises and the binding is awesome to have making it easier to read while moving around and such. The program is very user friendly no matter where you are in your fitness journey. I started at the bottom levels thinking since I have been a swimmer for decades, formerly competitive, I was in good shape and wall pushups would be easy. Wrong!! If done right they are very challenging as are the other exercised.
I appreciate being able to start at a level that is appropriate to me and to continuing for a long time to come. This program allows you to do that.

A good book for people getting started and beyond. I like the progression through the different exercises as you progress. Each exercise has 3 levels of strength progress before you move to the next more difficult variation. This is very useful for determining strength levels and when to move on.

If I have one negative comment it would be the spiral binding of the book. The pages hang up and it's a matter of time before they will start to rip. This should not and will not stop me or anyone from buying it now or in future books.

Absolutely love the spiral bound concept, easily open and move with me and my wife as we exercise and browse for ideas. Plenty of visuals on all variations and I think that’s the big takeaway here. Hampton has demonstrations as well as the introduction/beginning variation up to advanced, so there isn’t just a high-end description name of an exercise without explanation. There is plenty for everyone to jump in and begin. Great purchase and even for myself having been physically active for most of my life, this is a great add to any collection but also a marvelous way to begin your journey to a better, healthier you.

Straightforward, concise, easy-to-use guide that offers each exercise in multiple degrees of difficulty. The spiral ring is key, so it can be laid flat on the page with what you are doing. This book would be annoying to use without it. Pages thick and sturdy. If you already stare at a screen all day and don't want to get the info on YouTube, this is a great alternative.

I have only just started reading and doing these exercises, but I love the ease in getting started. I love the associations Hampton makes with every day activities. I have never been able to do a pull up but he points out that I can open and close a garage door--and other activities-- that use these same muscle groups. I am excited to use the progressions to increase my abilities. I am grateful for the spiral bound format that allows me open the book to one page, to look at the photos with the simple tutorial explanations to make sure I am doing everything correctly. High quality production and I can tell a lot of thought went into its making.

I'm not a very active person by nature and my job has me sitting at a desk for 8-12 hours a day. I've always been scared of going to the gym because of body image issues and was never able to do any of the workout plans I've tried before; I would give up when I couldn't complete the required amount of pushups/sit-ups/burpees/etc.
This is the first time in my life I've stuck with a workout plan. I've been watching Hampton's videos for over a year now and his friendly, non-judgemental approach to exercise helped me to feel better about trying to be more active, and the progressive nature of this workout plan made it accessible to someone like me with no preexisting skills. I even look forward to my workouts every evening now!
I cannot recommend this plan enough or thank Hampton enough for making fitness and health accessible. Even though I find myself using the website more than the book (I typically don't carry it around the gym with me), I'm more than glad to have made the purchase to support the work Hybrid Calisthenics does and do my part to keep their mission going.

Absolutely love this book! It is detailed, helpful and gives plenty of variations to keep me going! I love that the sections are color coded, but would find it more functional if they went down the side of the book so that it is easier to flip to the next section. I made my own tabs though and added some sticky notes to keep track of the progress of each exercise within the book!

Love this book, particularly the spiral bound copy! I first got the regular book on Amazon, not realizing it wasn't the spiral bound copy. So I got one from this website. I love the details, the tabs that let you know immediately if you're in the pullups or squats section, the simple easy to implement program that can be combined with other programs.
What else do I love about this book? Here's what I wrote on Amazon: First, it has realistic progressions and goals that normal folks have a chance to achieve (unlike Paul Wade's Convict Conditioning, one arm handstand pushup, anyone?!?), it has thorough and helpful instructions, and a friendly encouraging tone (also characteristic of Liu's great Youtube videos). There are a LOT of bodyweight/calisthenic books out there right now, this is one of the very best and most useful.
My only criticism (or suggestion) is that for squats, I think the airborne lunge is a better goal than the pistol, or it makes a good step toward the pistol. But a very minor criticism!

I need a routine, not just a list of exercises in random order. Been watching this guy on reels for a while, really like his 'vibe' which in my world is the gentle and relaxed way he introduces us to the 'you can do this' mind set. I love that this book is self explanatory. The exercises are easy to understand and I like that I am able to do a few sets each day to slowly build my muscle strength up without my muscles being so sore the next day that I can't move. I have had some mild soreness as my muscles get used to working again, but I am able to continue my exercise plan even with this small pain. I am working on the lowest progressions and I already feel stronger after only 1 week. I work remotely and have quite a sedentary lifestyle and I wanted an exercise plan that doesn't require a lot of equipment and that I don't have to leave my house for. Hybrid Calisthenics is the perfect way for me to build up muscle and core strength so that I might be able to get away from the zombies when the apocalypse hits :)
