Hampton and the team have done an admirable job here: The sequence is both clear and manageable, and the descriptions and pictures are well-thought-out. The spiral binding is a nice touch.
If there's a next edition, I bet it will include worksheets (to keep track of adherence to the program) and another proofreading/editing pass. But none of that should stop you from buying and using this excellent resource immediately.

I've followed Hampton's videos for years now and have dabbled with his program enough to know I love it even if my personal consistency hasn't been great. I got the book at last and have been following along with it for a couple of weeks now. It's VERY achievable even for people who haven't had the best relationship with exercising - like me. Bought it for myself to get back in shape after letting myself go postpartum. I used to work out a lot but decided to start from the very beginning anyway. It's great. I am noticing uneven strength and mobility on different sides and noticing better posture with after just a week of following the book.
I shared the book with my mom who is in her 60s and she says that she is noticing better posture after just 4 days. The best thing about it, I think, is that the way it's set up makes it really easy to start developing a workout habit. 2 different excercises a day, 2-3 sets each. Doesn't take much time so you have no excuses. Still, you will feel the burn, and you will feel surprisingly sore from what seems like really simple movements.
If you're wondering if it's worth it, it is. Especially if you, like myself, find watching a screen distracting. Referencing the book keeps my mind focused on my task and on what muscles I'm working.

This book is so easy to read and follow. The spiral binding is clean and makes it great for setting up while exercising. I'm a pedant, so some of the typos are distracting, but let's be real... That is not the point of this book. The information is solid, the illustrations are clear, the guides are easy to follow, and I'm progressing very quickly!

I've been a big fan of the convict conditioning books, but this one does what they don't. This one doesn't assume your already in great shape, and give more intermediate steps between the big moves. I love the tone of this book as it is much more about finding what works for you wherever you are in your calisthenics journey.

I got this as a Christmas gift. I'm very happy with it, as it is a ring-bound book, I can lay it open near me while I'm exercising. The pages seem well made, and I don't feel the need to be delicate when opening the book and turning pages, for fear of tearing off pages (which is something I've always hated about these types of books).
One thing I would have like would be stretches or warm-ups for the very first exercises. I have found I get a better workout when warmed up, and I would have liked this to be in the book.
I also have the Hybrid Calisthenics gym rings (Hampton has tutorials for DIY rings as well if you don't want to buy his). I don't have any complaints about them. I've had them for about 1.5 years.
Honestly, I would have bought this book for myself, if I didn't get it as a gift. Hampton seems to give good information, and seems like a good guy, so I'm happy to support him. I'll probably buy a logo t-shirt from his store, since he and his team are some of the few people I'd be willing to advertise on my clothing.

Hello Friends! The Hybrid Calisthenics Book, known simply as The Oracle around here, is the most used book in my collection. Every day starts with an excellent, Hampton-approved workout. I haven't felt this active and energetic in years! I love the way these workouts can be broken down for extreme beginners like myself. So far, I've lost over 70 lbs following Hampton's book, videos and advice!!

I started by trying the app, but found it a hassle since I use other apps to track workouts and generally use the old fashioned paper and pen to log sets/reps. The book is fantastic! Both the information and instructions are well written and clear. It's handy to have when mixing it up and going "off-script". I'm already seeing progress from the program after only a few weeks. Can't wait to bag that first pull-up!

It's not for someone looking for a quick fix, because there are no quick fixes, especially if you've been inactive for a while.
The best part of the program for me is that I can see progress made with each workout, even if it's only one or two more reps. The modifications help you build strength and improve form to take you to the next phase.

Great book! High quality print, photos, and information. I like that there is detailed descriptions of each level and how to know when you’re ready to progress.
My only critique is that the “full bridge” and “wheel bridge” seem to be exactly the same, even in the explanation and descriptions. The only difference I could find is the wheel bridge says to pause for 10s rather than 5s.
Overall, definitely worth the money to have an easy to ready, hard-copy. Excellent work!

I just recently started strength training in the gym after being diagnosed with osteoporosis at 40 years old. I’ve followed Hampton online for quite a while now and was excited to see a physical copy of his book, I think these exercises will help me become stronger in areas that lifting weights may not target. I have started out at Level 1 on all the beginning exercises so that I can make sure my form is correct. I love how each exercise is broken down into progressions that anyone, at any age, could easily do. I’ve even had my 10 year old doing them with me most days! Its very nice having a structured routine I can go through, with information how to do the exercise correctly, rather than cross referencing short videos and trying to figure it out.
I would love the same style for stretching and flexibility, such as the content from "MovementbyDavid" On Youtube.
I'm getting through it really well. Seeing progress, unfortunately skip the next variation of pullups, cause I don't have a spot or the equipment for it, though I may try find a park with a gym area. For squats on the same day, I don't have the ankle flexibility yet.
Its really unfortunate about the pricing of the shipping. I was quite happy that the price was fine! Just the shipping made me quite hesitant, though I've got this forever, so I still think its worth it. But still, quite sucky.

This arrived so quickly and I'm happy to have the manual on hand in print. The writing is very user friendly and funny, just like what I became used to hearing on the channel. The Hybrid Calisthenics approach really works for me, I know it sounds silly but I used to really throw myself into exercise only to burn out quickly because I treated it like drills and bootcamp. But now I'm more focused on moving correctly and building up strength and mobility without rushing. Can't be mobile long term if I mess up and injure myself by being impatient!

I have followed HAmpton on IG for quite a while and was excited when the book came about. I have torn rotator cuffs and labrum in both shoulders and surgery will never be an option for me. So, I have been doing wall push ups for 3 months thus far and the range of motion has greatly improved in both shoulders.
